Midyear Review 2020

So I realise that I posted this midyear review on Instagram but with all that was going on both in the world and in my life, I never got around to posting one on here. When I posted my midyear review on Instagram in July I was very much in my feelings. For the past two years my sisters and I have been working on my mum’s immigration into the US to live with my oldest sister, live near me, and retire in a place surrounded by people who will love and care for her. The because of COVID-19, when it came time for my mum to fly to the US, with a preapproved Permanent resident status, she wasn’t allowed to fly because she’d been in the UK for 14 days prior to her entry.

Cue the 2020 pivot.

Thankfully, my mum was able to fly to Canada to stay with my sister there for 15 days and then she was able to fly into the states from Canada. She got stamped, she’s approved, and now we’re just waiting for that Green card to arrive in the post.

During that time when we were all especially on edge, my sister was leaning on Ephesians 6:10-18 where it says:

“Be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might… and when you’ve done all you can, stand.”

Sometimes it really does feel like all I can do is stand. But I will continue to stand firm in the Lord.

So it’s been a long and often difficult six months (eight now but you know what I mean). And in that time my reading has been pretty up and down. I’m falling off the wagon with reading through the BBC top 100 list and I want to get back on that. But I’ve been receiving lots of really great new releases that I’m looking forward to getting into and sharing with you. But, without further ado, here are the stats for where I was at the end of June:
